The Occupational Therapist at Presbyterian Hospital provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions to rehabilitate patients with physical and developmental disorders. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and oversee comprehensive rehabilitation programs that promote patient independence and support discharge planning. The role requires a Bachelor's degree, state licensure, and focuses on patient advocacy and optimizing functional outcomes in an inpatient setting.

Responsibilities:Evaluates and treats patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of function/occupation and developmental disorders.
Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients served
Oversees and insures a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and immediate environmental well-being of the patient
Promotes patient/caregiver self-determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of independence.
Coordinates and communicates with various disciplines or services involved in patient care.
Coordinates efforts toward discharge goals established at initial evaluation and during episode of care.
Is a patient advocate.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Professional Roles and Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Occcupational Therapy Required
NM State Licensure in Occupational Therapy
Masters preferred.

Requires detailed knowledge of occupational therapy in terms of what and how work is to be done as well as why it is done, this level includes interpretation of data.
Basic computer skills required.
Basic understanding of the rules and regulations of the specific
setting
Less than one year experience in occupational therapy.
Occupational Therapist: Two years of experience providing infant/child developmental services preferred.
Competency or validation of participation in pediatric and NICU education and formal training and/or mentoring
Masters preferred
