Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) is seeking an industry-leading, Associate Principal or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to expand and develop our geotechnical engineering practice companywide.

This position may be based in any WJE office across the continental United States: .

Responsibilities:

1. Project management: client development, project scoping, team management, schedule and budget oversight, client expectation management
2. Technical leadership: applying sound engineering judgment, understanding codes and practices, collaborating across disciplines, handling forensic, problem-solving, and remediation projects, preparing client deliverables, reviewing work, and conducting field work
3. Mentorship: fostering knowledge sharing and career development within the team
4. Contributing to practice growth: engaging with clients, sharing knowledge internally, and participating in industry organizations

Qualifications:

1. Licensed Geotechnical Engineer in relevant state(s)
2. Masters or PhD in geotechnical engineering or related field
3. 20+ years of relevant experience (25+ preferred), with expertise in soil conditions, foundation design, investigation methods, remedial measures, slope stability, and settlement issues
4. Self-motivated with a problem-solving approach
5. Excellent communication skills

Physical Requirements:

Must meet physical demands including travel, field observations, working at heights and in hazardous environments, operating equipment, lifting up to 50 lbs., and driving.
